Her refined design style creates elegant interiors that strike a perfect balance by combining a curated selection of art with a mix of collectible design and modern, custom, and vintage furniture. Melanie’s seamless designs feature intricate lighting plans, showcasing carefully chosen contemporary, vintage, custom, and artistic light pieces.

With over 10 years of experience, she is well-versed in various periods and styles, yet tailors her residential design to fit her clients' tastes, making each project unique. Her focus is on creating homes that are both timeless and sophisticated, while remaining highly functional.

Driven by a passion for the creative arts, Melanie transitioned into the world of interior design as a second career. Born and raised in New York City as the daughter of comedian Rodney Dangerfield, she graduated from Emerson College with a degree in Communications and Art History. After a successful 15-year career in television, including 10 years at HBO as a producer, she decided to pursue her passion for design by enrolling in the New York School of Interior Design. After three years working with Cullman & Kravis, she founded Melanie Roy Design, which offers comprehensive interior design services in New York City, the Hamptons, and Palm Beach, including new construction, renovation, and architectural design.

To date her work has been featured in various prominent publications, including NBC Open House, HGTV, Architectural Digest, ADPro, LUXE, Traditional Home, HC&G, NYC&G, The New York Times, Newsday, The Southampton Press, and The East Hampton Star, among others.

In addition to her design work, Melanie is deeply committed to philanthropy, actively supporting organizations such as BCRF, Holiday House, Housing Works, and Southampton Hospital. She currently serves on the board of the Madoo Conservancy.
